Our Leather

All our bags are made using full grain leather. Full-grain is premium part of the hide.  We select only the best material for our bags that depends on many factors like the texture, design and functionality of the item.  Full grain leather is usually the top most layer of the leather and it retains some of the natural characteristic of the hide.

With every day use your leather may develop a soft sheen that is called Patina. Patina is the darkening and soft sheen that develops when leather comes in contact body oils, sunlight and regular use. This is a natural occurring process and will make your bag look even more beautiful.

Leather Do’s & Don’ts

Here is a guide to help you take care of your Goodhides bags.

  • Keep leather out of direct heat/sunlight for prolonged periods of time so it doesn’t dry out, crack or fade unevenly. Avoid direct contact with water as moisture will damage the leather.
  • Always do spot testing before you apply any product on the leather. Apply a small amount to a spot that’s usually not visible, leave it for 24 hours to see if it changes the leather color in any way or damages the bag.
  • Leather is natural oil absorbent and thus it is important that you clean your hands before you touch your leather bag. If there is oil on your skin, then this can darken the leather bag and in turn case stained spots.
  • Leather can get stained easily and therefore things that could potentially damage your bag should be kept isolated. Makeup and cosmetics are a key contributing factor and thus it is recommended to keep them in a pouch.
  • Avoid over stuffing the bag as it may result in a temporary or permanent change to its shape and design.
